4 Day Desert Sahara
No. 20 — Merzouga

A four-day loop out of Fez and back, built for people who want the dunes and the gorges without the one-way logistics of ending in Marrakech. You keep the same driver and vehicle throughout, and your bag stays in the car.

The first two days are the classic desert run: cedar forest, Midelt, the Ziz gorges, a camel trek into Erg Chebbi, a night in camp, and then a full day in the sand with Khamlia, the nomad families and the fossil country around Rissani. On day three you turn west along the old caravan road to the Todra gorge, where the cliffs close to a few metres across and the river runs through the gap, and spend the night among the kasbahs of the Dades valley.

Day four brings you north again through the Valley of Roses, over the high passes and back into Fez by evening. It is the most landscape you can see from Fez in four days, and the nights are split between a desert camp and a riad rather than four hotels.

Good to know

Do we come back to Fez?

Yes. These are round trips and you are returned to your riad in Fez. The journeys listed under Morocco Tours end in Marrakech instead.

Is the camel trek compulsory?

No. A 4x4 can take you to the camp instead — tell us when you book.

How cold does it get at night?

Genuinely cold from November to February, whatever the daytime forecast says. Bring layers.
